When we decide to lose weight the first thing we do is eat less food, right? We may miss meals or eat small amounts in the hope that our body will burn off the fat on its own. In actual fact eating fewer makes it more difficult to lose weight.
When researchers compare overweight and thin people they find that they both eat roughly the same number of calories. What makes overweight people different is the amount of fat they consume. Thin people eat less fat and more complex carbohydrates.
It is important to remember that losing weight is not something you can do overnight. A carefully planned weight loss program requires common sense and certain guidelines. Unfortunately, there is a lot of bad information around and lots of desperate people are easily duped and ripped off.

People who diet without exercise often get fatter with time. Although the weight may initially drop while dieting, such weight loss mainly consists of water and muscle. When the weight returns it comes back as fat. Therefore, to avoid getting fatter over time we need to increase the metabolism by exercising regularly. Select an exercise routine that you are comfortable with and remember that walking is one of the best and easiest exercises for strengthening your bones, controlling your weight, and toning your muscles.
